Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) involves using specific targeted hormones to replace the hormones that are not being made by your body in sufficient quantities. For many individuals throughout various life stages, bioidentical hormones can dramatically improve their quality of life.

  • Insomnia

  • Mood swings

  • Weight gain

  • Infertility

  • PMS, painful or irregular menstrual cycles

  • Premature aging

  • Fatigue

What is my approach to BHRT use?

To provide the best care for your specific needs, I am an advocate for collaborating with your other healthcare providers, including your family doctor, specialist, chiropractor, physiotherapist, nutritionist, massage therapist or osteopathic practitioner (to name just a few).

I fully believe that helping you find a direct path to wellness involves an interdisciplinary approach. For these reasons, your treatment will start with gentle natural therapies such as nutritional adjustments, botanical medicine and supplemental support. Most patients will feel better with these initial changes to optimize their quality of life. When (and if) it is required, we can go to the next steps of BHRT. With the appropriate lab testing, the closer we can get to addressing the root cause of your ailment, the more likely we will be in helping you feel your best.

How are BHRTs commonly administered?

BHRTs can be prescribed as creams, suppositories, tablets or pills depending on the health concern and the specific hormonal imbalance.

Where do I get BHRT?

With a prescription from your specialist, family doctor or naturopathic doctor who has completed the Ontario prescribing and therapeutics exam, you can pick up your prescription from certain compounding pharmacies in the city. BHRTs may be covered by certain health insurance plans.
